Winter in DC

Wow! Winter has been so refreshing, healing, transformational for me. Because I allowed it to be all those things for me. Most days, I don't see but a sliver of daylight (I wake up at crack of dawn and leave my class to get my son when the sun is setting, plus no windows) but it has been bright in my internal landscape.

You know that saying, "Crazy is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome?" Well, I had to stop, look, and listen to myself. Not the self that is ruled by self-serving, worldly ego but that quiet, inner voice that whispered gently to me, "What do you really want?"

I am choosing peace. If that means, I'm meditating at odd hours to get it, then, so shall it be. If that means, evaluating my relationships and pulling back to see the dysfunction then I am doing it. And it definitely means stopping- the crazy habits, the crazy thoughts and just walking with peace in my back pocket with my son by my side.

Eastern Market

Had a little break, so I perused the stalls of Eastern Market where I tried on Sakaad.com bags then went to the movies at Gallery Place to see Bad Teacher, where I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes.

Lotus of Wadi Arts Moved to DC!!!

I apologize for the lack of communication. I have been in the throes of life: moving, mothering, completing the last stretch of school, job hunting, and getting back acclimated to my hometown. Let me just say, I might not settle here but there is no place like home and DC is my home!

Black and White

I have been seriously tapping into spirit these days.
Finding my truth and my strength and my joys.
Mahari has been home with me since school is out and we are spending lots of quality time.
I am growing hair back but it is reaching the awkward stage, but I'm working with it.
I need to pack and organize so that I can dip out of Atlanta however I have not lifted a finger in that process. Sigh, just living moment to moment. But it feels good, the process feels good.
